In addition, do not use if it is hard to breathe while wearing, if the respirator is wet or dirty, or in
combination with other masks or respirators. Additional information can be found at

In some cases, the respirator may interfere with the wearer’s breathing. If the wearer has an underlying
medical condition, or any concern about wearing a respirator, the wearer should contact their medical
provider.
USER INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Employees should review the training video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzpz5fko-fg and the
Fact Sheet https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/docs/2010-133/pdfs/2010-133.pdf prior to wearing an N95
respirator.
2.
The respirator may be used until it is soiled, damaged,contaminated, breathing becomes d ifficult,
the respirator has loosened on the wearer’s f ace, or the wearer can no longer get a tight seal.
Otherwise, it may be stored and reused according to the facility’s infection control policy.
3.
N95 respirators are to be inspected prior to each use to ensure it is in goodoperating condition.
Examine all parts of the respirator for signs of damage, including the two elastic head loops
and nose wire. The respirator should be disposed of immediately upon observation of d amaged
or missing parts. Immediately replace respirator if damaged.

Donning Instructions (Must be followed each time respirator is worn)

1. Employees should always wash their hands before handling a respirator to prevent cross
contamination.
2. Cup the respirator in your hand, with the nosewire at your fingertips, allowing the headbands to hang
f reely below your hand.
3. Position the respirator under your chin with the nosepiece up. Pull the top strap over your head resting
it high at the top back of your head. Pull the bottom strap over your head and position it around the neck
below the ears.
4. Place your fingertips from both hands at the top of the metal nosepiece. Using two fingers mold the
nose area to the shape of your nose by pushing inward while moving your fingertips down both sides of
the nosepiece.
5. Perf orm a User Seal Check prior to each wearing. To perform a seal check, place both hands
completely over the respirator and exhale. If air leaks around nose or the sides of the respirator, that
means that you do not have a good seal. Readjust the nosewire and straps as described in step 3.. If you
cannot achieve a proper seal, see your supervisor.
REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS
See step 2 of Fitting Instructions The wearer should refrain from touching the front of the respirator as the
wearer removes it. Pull bottom strap over the head. Still without touching the respirator, pull top strap
over the head and remove respirator. Hold the respirator by the straps to properly dispose of it.
