ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAMS
AP COURSE OFFERINGS
AP coursework is available in Class XI and XII with limited availability to Class X
students. Students enrolled in an AP course are expected to take the corresponding
exam. Students will only be allowed to enroll in more than three AP courses a year
with approval of the Academic Dean. Waterford oers 17 AP subjects and has one of
the highest passing rates in the state of Utah. In 2021, 178 students took 357 exams
with a pass rate of 82%.
English: AP English Literature and Composition (XII)
History: AP European History (X), AP US History (XI), AP Microeconomics
Math: AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Advanced Topics (non-AP,
but an advanced math course aer AP Calculus BC)

ABOUT WATERFORD
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
• Waterford operates on a trimester system. First term grades available around
December 1, and Winter Term grades are available mid-March
• All grades are unweighted and we do not calculate rank.
• GPA includes all courses except PE and team sports and Pass/Fail (P/F)
courses (Independent study, Robotics Lab, etc.)
• Robotics Lab and Independent Studies (IS) are P/F courses
• Arts intesive: all students take six terms of performing arts (music, dance or
theater) AND six terms of visual art.
• All students take six terms of PE or team sports.
• During the Spring Trimester of 2020, students had the option to choose Pass/
Fail instead of letter grade in their classes.
• Fall and Winter trimesters of the 2020-21 year were held in a hybrid model,
two days of in-person learning, followed by two days of synchronous Zoom
learning. Spring Term 2021 classes resumed full time in person.
