Instanceswhereemployeesrequireamedicalaccommodationforanalternativefacecoveringshouldbe
handled on a case‐by‐case basis with their supervisor, H&S Department, or Employee Relations
representative.
Wherepersonalprotectiveequipmentmayneedtobeworninadditionto(orinplaceof)facecoverings,
employees and supervisors should plan for the appropriate approach that complies with COVID‐19
protection.Someexamplesare(butnotexclusiveto):
o Faceshieldforweldingorchemicalprotection.
o Air‐purifyingrespiratororsuppliedairrespiratorforbreathingprotection.
o N95facemaskinresponsetosmokefromawildfireevent.
Supervisorsandemployeesshouldplanforworktaskswhereconditionsmayaffecttheproperuseofface
coverings(e.g.,inclement/extremeweather).
VendorsandcontractorsareexpectedtocomplywiththisprograminadditiontotheirownCOVID‐19safety
guidelines.Productions/HSMshallensurecompliance.
Cleaning/Disinfection
Common/HighTouchSurfaces
o Commonandhightouchareasshouldbecleanedonaregularbasisthroughouttheemployee’s
workshift.Surfacesmayinclude:
Doorknobs,handlesandbars
Officedesksandcountertops
Stairwayhandrails
Elevatorbuttons
o SeeyourHighTouchpointChecklistforfurtherdetailsifavailable
o AlthoughareasmaybecleanedbytheH&SDepartmentorjanitorialservices,employeesshould
routinelycleantheirworkareas.
o Surfacescoveredwithvisibledirt/grimeshouldbepre‐cleanedbeforedisinfection.
o OnlyproductsprovidedbytheH&SDepartmentandlistedonthe“EPAListN:DisinfectantsforUse
Against SARS‐CoV‐2 (COVID‐19)” should be used. Manufacturer’s directions for use, including
requiredpersonalprotectiveequipment(e.g.,gloves),mustbefollowed.
o Employeesshouldnotuseproductsorsuppliesbroughtfromhome.
HandWashing&PersonalHygiene
o Employeesshallwashtheirhandsfrequently.Properhandwashingincludes:
Usingsoapandwater
Washingallofareasofthehands(e.g.underthenails,backofhands,etc.)foratleast20
seconds.
Rinsinghandsanddryingthemthoroughlyviapapertowels,airblowers,etc.
o Handsanitizerswillbeprovidedsupplementaltorestroomsandhandwashingstations(min.60%
alcoholperCDCguidance).
o Ifsuppliesarenotavailable,theemployeeshouldnotifytheirsupervisororHSM.
