PHILOSOPHY OF SACRED HEART
EDUCATION
Members of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools are
dedicated to the educational values articulated over 200
years ago by the foundress of the Society of the Sacred
Heart, Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat. Sacred Heart schools
are committed to educate students to: a personal and
active faith in God; a deep respect for intellectual values;
a social awareness which impels to action; the building
of community as a Christian value; personal growth in an
atmosphere of wise freedom.
THE SCHOOL
Founded in 1887 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of
Jesus (RSCJ), Convent of the Sacred Heart is an independent
Catholic school and a division within Schools of the Sacred
Heart, San Francisco. Convent’s college preparatory program
is dedicated to the education of young women in a global
society. Its course of studies emphasizes rigorous academic
preparation with attention to growth in all areas —
intellectual, spiritual, personal and social.
Convent offers an educational experience that is both
single-sex and coed. In addition to the school’s primary
attention to the development of young women in single-sex
classes, Convent’s close partnership with Stuart Hall High
School enhances academic and social programs by engaging
students in coed academic courses and in performing arts,
student leadership, social events, and sports teams.
Service and local and global awareness is a major
component of Sacred Heart education; Convent and Stuart
Hall students collaborate on community service projects to
support social justice and those in need. Our students also
take advantage of international and U.S. exchange programs
throughout the Sacred Heart School Network.
ACCREDITATION
Convent of the Sacred Heart High School holds the highest accreditation from the Western Association
of Schools and Colleges and the Network of Sacred Heart Schools.
