Florida Law allows you thirty (30) calendar days from the date you receive your citation to select ONE
of the following options. Carefully read this form before selecting your option. You may pay your fine
or elect Driver Improvement School (if eligible) within 30 days by accessing www.stjohnsclerk.com
or call 1-855 796-5764. nCourt online payment system.
OPTION 1. PAY FINE/ACCEPT POINTS (points will be assessed on moving violations) Pay the fine
governed by Florida Statutes. Traffic school may not be elected/attended later once you choose
this option.
OPTION 2. REQUEST COURT APPEARANCE: By electing this option, you will be issued a court date
and waive your right to pay the fine or elect traffic school. Please do not call the Clerks Office for
legal advice. The court may impose a fine up to $500 except in cases of Unlawful Speed in a
School/Construction zone, accidents involving serious bodily injury or death in which the court
may impose a fine up to $1000-$2060. Additionally, the court may require completion of a Florida
Traffic School.
If Florida is not your licensed state, you must provide the Clerk’s Office with a
printout of your Driving Record. If you are unable to attend a court date in St Johns County due to
residing out of the State of Florida, then you may file an Affidavit of Defense in lieu of your
appearance. Please check this box if an Affidavit of Defense is needed:
OPTION 3. ELECT DRIVER IMPROVEMENT SCHOOL TO WITHHOLD POINTS:
Read below to see if you are eligible for this option:
• You do not hold a Commercial Driver’s License
• Have not elected the school option within the last 12 months
• Have not elected the school option five (5) times within your lifetime
• Your traffic ticket is not for speeding 30/50 miles over the speed limit
• Your traffic ticket is not for an accident involving serious bodily injury or fatality
If you are eligible for the school option, the base fine will be reduced by 18% as governed by Florida Statute
318.14. (Some violations are not eligible for the reduction) You may elect a 4-Hour BDI (Basic Driver
Improvement) course approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. If you reside in
a state other than Florida, you must contact your State Department of Motor Vehicles, to ensure points will be
withheld. (We will not accept school completions unless they are approved by the state of Florida.) Please do not
contact the clerk’s office for school recommendations as we are not permitted to endorse schools.

providers.
I, am eligible to elect the driving school option and understand this option MAY NOT BE CHANGED after
the election and reduced fine are received. If I fail to complete the school within sixty (60) days of electing this
option, I understand the election will still count, points will be assessed. I will be required to pay back the original
reduction, late fee, service fee and possible driver license suspension. For further information, please call the
