[1]
Phase 1 of the San Antonio Airport System Strategic Development Plan determined in 2018
that the San Antonio International Airport could fit at the current location. Now in Phase 2,
project planners are facilitating the development of the plan for airport growth for the next
20 years. It will determine what facilities this airport will need, such as gates and airfield
improvements, where they should go, and how to pay for them.
As part of the planning process, community members and travelers were invited to provide
input and comments via a survey during Phase 2 of the Strategic Development Plan. The
survey was available in English and Spanish. The data from the surveys is being used to
inform the San Antonio Airport System’s focus on strategic planning for the next 20 to 50
years.
The survey was open from October 13, 2019 to November 13, 2019 (31 days). There were a
total of 826 survey respondents. Not all survey respondents responded to all questions in
each survey (the number of responses to each question is noted at the bottom of each
question’s response summary). This report provides the quantitative highlights of the survey.
This section provides a summary of the survey results, as well as information on why each
question was included. Questions and responses are presented below.
How important are these airport amenities to you?
The input from this question is being used to provide input in terms of what travelers value
most about the airport. These trends and desires will be used to inspire specific plans and
options for the long-range planning for the San Antonio International Airport. The summary
results presented in the graphic below are based on a weighted average of all respondents,
where 1 = not important and 5 = extremely important; therefore, amenities with higher value
were on average chosen as more important amenities than those with lower values.
The top three amenities chosen as being important to respondents were free airport-
provided Wi-Fi, parking convenience, and a charging station for electronic devices. Other
amenities that on average were chosen as being at least “very important” were an indoor
seating area, wheelchair [availability], rental car location, and fast food restaurants. The
amenities that ranked the lowest in this question were a shoeshine [vendor], live music, and
an airline club.
INTRODUCTION
SURVEY RESULTS
[2]
[3]
Respondents could also write in an amenity that they consider to be important in the “other”
option. A total of 125 respondents provided a response to this question. A listing of all
amenities provided under the “other” category for this question are included in Appendix A,
Table A-1.
How often do you fly for personal reasons?
This travel-specific question helps the planning team have a statistical foundation regarding
those who travel for personal reasons. It also helps the planning team prepare the kind of
information that stakeholders both travelers and non-travelers need in order to be
informed about the Strategic Development Plan.
Approximately half of the respondents travel for personal reasons between two and five
times each year (54 percent). Approximately 17 percent of respondents travel between 6 and
11 times each year. Approximately 2 percent never travel for personal reasons.
[4]
How often do you fly for business reasons?
Similar to the previous question, this business-travel related question helps the planning
team have a statistical foundation regarding business travelers and helps the team prepare
the kind of information that stakeholders both travelers and non-travelers need in order to
be informed about the Strategic Development Plan.
The largest percentage of respondents (approximately 36 percent) do not travel for business
reasons. Approximately 23 percent travel between two and five times each year, while over
ten percent travel either once a year (11.5 percent) or less than once a year (13.3 percent).
In what zip/postal code is your home located?
Approximately 95 percent of respondents live in Bexar County. Of the Bexar County
respondents, approximately 20 percent reside in the zip code 78209, which is located
immediately south of the San Antonio International Airport. Approximately 33 percent of all
respondents reside in zip codes within and immediately adjacent to the San Antonio
International Airport (78209, 78216, 78217, and 78247). Counties outside of Bexar County
that had the highest representation were Comal and Medina counties (21 respondents, each).
There were also 12 out-of-state respondents, including three respondents from North
Carolina, and one respondent from each of the following states: Arizona, California, Florida,
Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Utah (
the out-of-state
respondents are not depicted on the below graphic
).
[5]
Comments/suggestions for the Strategic Development Plan team
The comments and suggestions provided will be used to inform Phase 2 of the Strategic
Development Plan. A total of 356 people provided comments to this question. A
representative sample of the feedback received is depicted below and a complete listing of
comments is included in Appendix A, Table A-2.
[6]
Please provide your email address if you would like to receive the results from this survey and
information about how your feedback will be used.
In order to continue to communicate with people who are interested in the Strategic
Development Plan, people were asked for their email addresses. This list of stakeholders is
used to communicate about upcoming meetings and events and provide information and
updates about the plan.
As part of this survey, 409 people provided an email address to receive project updates.

The following questions were designed to gather demographic information of survey
respondents and fulfill the City of San Antonio requirement to gather this type of information
in their surveys. This assures that public input, including differing viewpoints, is reflected and
appropriately considered in the decision-making process in order to improve all functions of
City government and its programs, policies, and ordinances.
What is your age?
Nearly 74 percent of survey respondents were between the ages of 36 and 74, with the largest
age group representation for individuals between the ages of 55 and 64 (20 percent).
Individuals that are 24 years old or younger represented 4.8 percent of respondents.
GENERAL DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
OF SURVEY RESPONDENTS
[8]
What is your gender?
More females (57 percent) completed the survey than males (40 percent). Less than three
percent of respondents said they prefer to self-describe (0.5 percent) or not answer this
question (2.2 percent).
[9]
Which race/ethnicity best describes you?
For this question, respondents could select as many races/ethnicities that applied. Over half
of survey respondents (57.4 percent) are white, while over a quarter (28.4 percent) are
Hispanic or Latino/a; these two races/ethnicities represented the majority (85.8 percent) of all
survey respondents.
[10]
City of San Antonio Council District
Approximately 25 percent of respondents reside in City Council District 10, followed by
approximately 17 percent in District 9; these two districts combined represent almost half
(approximately 42 percent) of the survey respondents and include residents in the Northeast
side of San Antonio. Council Districts 4 and 5, which are located in central and southcentral
San Antonio, had the lowest representation in the survey, representing less than two percent
of respondents, each. Approximately 13 percent do not live within the City of San Antonio.
[11]
Respondents said the three most important airport amenities are free airport-
provided Wi-Fi, parking convenience, and charging stations for electronic devices.
Other amenities that were ranked high as being important to respondents are an
indoor seating area, wheelchairs, rental car location, and fast food restaurants.
The majority of respondents travel for personal reasons between two and five times
a year, and do not travel for business reasons.
Nearly all (95 percent) of respondents are residents of Bexar County, and one-third
reside in zip codes within or adjacent to the San Antonio International Airport.
The majority of respondents are between the ages of 36 and 74, are female and
white, and reside in either the northeastern areas of San Antonio or outside city
limits.

Bring back McDonalds
109
Chick fil a
110
I am very concerned about the 4/22 runway and want it to stay open. There is a lot of air
traffic over my neighborhood already. I don't want to see more. It will drop my property

Love the location of current airport; like being able to come in, drop off, easy access.
118
I have lived in the Alamo Heights area for the last 40 years. I am now retired, and I do not
want to see my property values go down from having more airplane traffic go over my
neighborhood. Please do not close the 4/22 runway.
119
Good fast food including outstanding service like Chick Fil A!!!!
120
Please do not close the 4/22 runway. Protect the Northwood /Oakpark area. Please study
the noise in this area again. There is already a lot of airplane traffic.

English translation: The strategic plan does not consider climate change (neither future
nor current) and its impact on "economic growth". The CAAP, recently adopted by the
city council, prioritizes reductions in greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation
sector. This airport development plan appears to have nothing to do with climate
planning and does not contemplate any environmental contingencies by which airport
operations could possibly be affected. We cannot act as if we were ignorant of the
forecasts of severe changes in the climate from now on. If you are going to make a plan
with pretty optimistic economic predictions, please be a little honest and tell us about
climate change.

Noise is too loud. Live on Eastley Dr.
4
es muy importante todo lo propuesto
English translation: everything proposed is very important
5
Please develop a Spanish speaking roaming around airport for visitors and citizens
traveling or arriving. Thank you/
6
I think our airport is one of the best
7
Need more direct flights. I am having to drive to Austin more and more to accommodate
my flight needs
8
Airline noise will become unbearable. No room for future growth. Could be relocated to
a place that would stimulate growth

9
Major HUB. More airplanes/other destination. More packing/services for
seniors/disabled. Play area for children. Look at other airports/Denver
10
Better food options and restaurants that stay open later; nursing station for families!
Faster checked baggage - always have to wait 20+ minutes in baggage claim for bags to
start coming out.
11
We must add more international and direct flights to stay competitive and attract large
businesses to make San Antonio their home.
12
So far looks very good strategic development plan
13
Build, they will come
14
You better hurry the earth will end in 11 years
15
Keep up the good work.
16
More/better transportation from parking lots. Cheaper rates for long term parking. Better
security/cameras and personnel.
17
Funding for noise abatement. Windows. Add Whataburger. Convenient Starbucks
18
Get chick-fil-a back!
19
Share the air traffic. Don't screw any one area.
20
Early and late hours of take offs and landings. Noise
21
Involve neighborhood
22
FAA regulations
23
We need an expansion of the airport that we can offer more flights to more locations. I
shouldn't have to look at flying out of Austin or Houston when I live in a metro area with
a population of over 2 million people.
24
Include this area for window replacement (631 Strinep)
25
Noise abatement & windows
26
Architecturally beautiful
27
After hours fight airport looks closed. Should be welcoming
28
It's important to consider toxicity and pollution in the new expansion. What products are
organic, natural and safe? How can the city airport support their communities by buying
and diverging local, empowering local, etc. How can we support the environment in this
expansion? How can we use as many natural materials as possible? Create organic indoor
environments for well-being? Travel can take a toll on health. If the airport can have more
natural inspired environments, I believe it would help with passenger stress.
29
I think the long runway idea is genius.
30
To reduce overall cost streamline plan to prioritize epidote travelers from airport to
surrounding businesses. Couple with plan for additional transportation for tourists from
downtown area.
31
Currency exchange. Lounge chairs for long lay overs. Massage services
32
Playground
33
Pet playground
34
Would love airline/priority pass lounges
35
Keep airport small like my city! I don't want a big airport that is only a business.
36
Window help! Flight plan needs some studies in areas near bitter/281
37
Coming together of cultures, languages and all things/people (international)
38
I love CONRAC
39
More shuttles for parking long term/short term
[vii]

Comment
40
Having more water stations to encourage people to bring reusable bottles.
41
Airline app for phone (location family sharing)
42
Easy to use airline app
43
How can I learn more?
44
Separate drop off location clear away from the pickup location. Traffic confusion and
congestion is bad.
45
Austin increased its Metro #20 frequency to (usually) every 15 minutes. That is the bus
route that connects downtown Austin & ABIA. San Antonio should do the same with VIA
Route #5.
46
More airline service options. Better parking
47
New terminal should reflect SA character. Privacy dividers between urinals in men’s
restroom.
48
I'll fly out of Terminal B whenever possible. Quick, predictable, efficient. If you change A,
look at these qualities. Parking in long term is couple and byzantine
49
Go big! City is severely outgrowing the airport
50
We are very concerned about noise over our home in Churchill estates, but excited about
improving our airport
51
I get lost trying to get into terminals from parking garage. Signage
52
Re-evaluate noise exposure map. Level of annoyance (65 DNL)
53
Better pick up & drop off traffic flow
54
More non-stops, internationals
55
More seats in terminals
56
Send link to Louis Mitlyng
57
More international flights. Direct flights.
58
Provide noise treatment to residential homes as promised. Doctors recommend 8 hours
of sleep and flight schedule over my home doesn't come close to allowing this. Need
noise insulation
59
Great presentation!
60
Think big, long term, but don't leave the SA metro area
61
Outdoor areas seem less important as most would rather be inside due to heat/noise
from planes.
62
Connection behind security between terminals; American flights in one terminal; indoor
flights observation deck and garden/greenhouse
63
San Antonio is growing around the airport. One day a plane will have mechanical
problems at takeoff or landing. What if that plane crashes into an office building,
neighborhood, etc.
64
Note asthma in children from exhaust from planes. Cancer risk from jet fuel.
65
We do need to expand the San Antonio Airport for bigger and current model air
transportation
66
Move airport outside 1604
67
Keep Spanish and English signs
68
Better place to leave or pick up people
69
Power restrictions 10p-6a
70
Limit pattern away from houses

71
Have for the last two years traveled back and forth to drop off and pick up my grandson
who travels many times a year. To do this has been fairly easy, just wondering if possible
to improve this
72
Less noise
73
Easy in out for handy cap people
74
Keep airport where it is
75
Having charging station/kiosk for electronics in a VERY NEEDED NECESSITY by a local
small business
76
Nonstop international flights so we don't have to drive to Austin
77
Need renovation on outside building and chair for waiting pick up from family
78
Please make it easier and less congested to pick up and leave the airport
79
Observation deck. Decent food offerings outside of security
80

81
More direct flights
82
More direct flights
83
More direct flights
84
A area where kids and family has an area where kids can learn and play and see planes
take off; airport meets Doseum meets restaurant
85
Consider homeowner affected by increased noise of airport expansion
86
Great job, airport is good
87
More places to eat!!
88
Install system of electric golf carts from long term parking to terminal. Better attention to
signage in parking garage.
89
Keep San Antonio Airport
90
Keep up the TSA wounded warrior check
91
Bigger restrooms; cleaner restrooms; upgrade waiting areas
92
Fix bagged claim
93
Just maybe have more hygiene in whole
94
Make parking easier - direct traffic with police
95
Please give thought to neighborhood impact from increased noise due to runway
changes. 402 Oak Glen was promised to be included in 10 yr. noise abatement plan -
then removed. Now, our area needs to be re-considered. FAA (?) has broken its
"promise" to help all impacted with this problem. Airline noise wakes me up in the wee
hours.
96
We are young professionals who just bought a house in Deerfield. The airport noise was
a huge consideration in the location of house we chose. Please do not significantly alter
the runway locations because it would harm people who made choices based on current
airport configuration.
97
- Need another runway to handle increased traffic
- Outdoor observation area
- Outdoor food trucks near terminal
- Directional signage is critical
98
Ethically, reengage the 2014 NEM map noise exposure program. Push the map back out
to the original footprint and put windows/doors back to houses that are affected by the
noise.

99
Concern falls around impact of noise in my home. Currently have to pause phone
conversation, TV, in house conversation when planes take off and land. Land value and
quality of life is our main concern. 4-22 does not impact us nearly as much as L03 and
needs to be kept and utilized.
100
More flights, more direct flights, better prices
101
More direct flights to major national and international destinations. Don't want to have
to fly through Dallas to do so.
102
Concerned about noise pollution of jets over home - crosswind runway. Also concerned
about any reconfiguring that would close Nakoma and force all traffic to Brook Hollow.
103
Plenty of room on Wetmore and lots of space between M7 and Wurzbach Parkway
104
1. Address new noise/increased noise
2. Close crosswinds runway
3. Access to 281 southbound from Wurzbach
105
Improvement of drop off and pick up congestion.
106
Please separate office center for printing copies or scan from souvenir shop. Both do not
go together. Ground transportation needs VIA bus indication signage inside airport. Bus
symbol needs to be bigger for ground transportation signage. VIA buses should be place
in front and not in back.
107
Do not build encroaching Aquifer
108
Please do not expand air traffic at the current location. Move operations the south side.
109
Transit hub that ties in with Future transportation development
110
Add rocking chairs like charlottes airport. Helps to decrease stress. Outdoor observation
area, maybe a fountain or water piece near the food court with elevated ceilings, the low
ceilings in the terminal make it feel crowded and small. Also recommend changing the
color scheme of the airport it feels very institutional, would love to see the airport reflect
the city better with a water scheme and Spanish colonial architecture and more plants
flowers and palm trees throughout. A tropical river water feel flow should be the goal
here.
111
San Antonio does not need more pavement and this that make our city hotter, we have
to start working with the science and reality of Climate Change please follow the science
and metrics of our Climate Action Plan and if the airport does not have any in the CAP set
out for them be leaders and set a high standard.
112
Make improvements to the pick up and drop off area, esp where Uber picks up. Signage
is terrible.
113
need more attractions. we need more tourism and continue nourishing culture
114
Not one question related to general aviation. Why? More GA hangars are needed at
KSAT.
115
One of the most important things is navigating the parking, drop off and pick up areas,
so keep working on making that as easy to figure out as possible!
116
Build new air terminals on north side of airport, use old sections for security and luggage
drop off. Take tram around to new terminals. Extend runway parallel to Wetmore road
so larger planes can land.
117
Better sit down restaurants with San Antonio flavor. Seating can be challenge sometimes
depending on how busy the airport is. Please keep a bookstore!
118
High rise hotel connected to the airport would be fantastic!
119
Get more involved with the community. Perception. Perception. Perception....

Rebuild modern 21st century terminals for SAT to rival the top airports of the world. Look
at airports such as Changi Airport, Singapore, Adolfo Suárez MadridBarajas Airport,
Spain, and Dubai Airport, UAE for inspiration.
121
Please don't allow any expansion to involve the demolition of Salado Creek within airport
boundaries. It's one of only 2 major creek greenways in SA.
122
it's sad that AUS often has far better flight options and prices than SAT offers
123
Would love to have more direct flights to domestic and Mexico, and some European
destinations.
124
More direct flights. More International flights. More cost competitive with Austin
125
Please add retired pilot Pat Garrison to the team.
126
Over-emphasize signage for both the entry/drive into airport and while in the airport. As
a traveler to other cities, it’s frustrating when it is unclear where to go (driving into the
airport, walking to gates, to baggage claim, to rental cars/transportation, etc.). Also, need
plenty of seating at the gates and plenty of space for passengers to stand while boarding
plane WITHOUT blocking the paths of other passengers walking to other gates.
127
Consider nearby neighborhoods and the impact changes to the airport make on them.
128
Keep the airplane noise and area traffic to a minimum.
129
Sound/noise level important as I live just north of the airport. Devices recording noise
level should be placed in strategic locations - not where placed in past unless that spot
would be strategic.
130
keep runway 4/22 open
131
Noise reduction. I live in Northwood/Oakpark
132
Having perpendicular runways is very important for Texas weather changes. I live by the
airport for easy access. (I used to work there.)
133
Noise reduction strategies
134
Do not add a runway, it will hurt my home value
135
I think we need to think about gate leases and not get tied down by SWAirlines and be
their 'subhub' and we need to get Lufthansa to fly Airbus 330s for direct flights to Boston
and Amsterdam.
136
When will there be airport planning meetings in locations near the airport
137
Love the idea of a completely new, midfield airport. Incorporate local art, local
restaurants/bars and live music. Create a true gateway to the city and more economic
development.
138
More flights leaving for other parts of the USA are needed.
139
Drop-off and pick-up is a congested mess at certain times. Trying to get to the curb for
drop-off (upper level) and pick-up (lower level) is difficult and dangerous. Also, the island
for ride share is nice, however, traffic for pick-up and exiting the airport has to stop for
the rideshare folks to cross to the island. An overhead skywalk would alleviate some of
the congestion and improve the traffic flow on the lower level. Seattle airport has a nice
set-up you might want to investigate.
140
You must come up with a financial plan that quietens either the jets or insulates our
homes that are on the flight path. We can see the rivets on the airplane's wings, but we
are told "we are not in the flight path." That is a load of poop administered by those who
DON'T live on the flight path.
141
Weather is too hot in SA for outdoor seating. We need more designated quite spaces in
our airports.

More and roomier seating at the gates would be nice. Otherwise, I’m fine with airport as
is...not too big. Good stuff: Recycling bins. The water bottle refill station. Paper towels
need to be an option in the restrooms...I have contact lenses to get in/out and need
towels. NO MUSIC! Unless you’re going to play MY kind of music.
143
I love that the SA airport supports local restaurants, cool art pieces, great parking, short
concourses, and is always clean and welcoming.
144
Please quit being politically influenced by Nelson Wolfe. Chic fil a is a very successful
business. They should be on the food court list.
145
Particular attention to the convince and spaciousness of vehicular access to departure
and arrival terminal traffic is imperative.
146
Need a new Airport with 2 main runways SAT will not be able to expand. If airport is
move maybe having a direct train. However SAT was build and it's on a very good
location from Downtown however they way the city is developing we need to think of
safety around the airport.
147
Universal design for the disabled and seniors! I am on the Parent advisory board for Bexar
County. Adults and Seniors with disabilities.
148
More direct flights, I am currently driving to Bergstorm several times a year to pick up my
daughter who attends Oregon State. Direct flight from Portland and cheaper than SA
International. I read somewhere at least 10% of Bergstorm arrival and departure is from
SA.
149
SA airport is so easy to use as is.
150
Chick-Fil-Lay ban was a mistake. I know lots of people that now just wait to eat at the
next airport when traveling. Silly. Makes us (SA) look petty. New parking garage is great!
Glad to see recent upgrades. Impressed by military displays. TSA agents always seem
pleasant--they represent the entire city so it is a great thing.
151
Art and environment 'things' represent our city's culture and are welcoming features.
Colorful displays, feature walls, observation deck, garden outdoor space to access or just
view from the corridors, local cultural displays all grab people's interest, whether they are
arriving in San Antonio to visit, or even if this is a stop-over for a connecting flight. This is
an amazing city- sell it immediately when folks approach the tarmac from the air!
152
Better located & more handicap parking spots
153
Provide more direct flights to East and West coast cities!!!!!!!
154
Please have more direct flights to the east coast.
155
Non stop to Boston!
156
Our airport is way behind cities much smaller then ours. Example: Austin, Sacramento,
Portland.
157
Biggest problem is too few gates and not enough competition for direct routes to
destinations. And there are too few direct routes. For a city this size we are underserved
as far as direct routes are concerned. Austin being a smaller city has more direct domestic
routes and even direct flights to Europe.
158
More non stop flights to new locations please!
159
Add valet parking and restaurant that have computerized ordering for quick service as
other airports do.
160
The noise level is crazy loud and More frequent over my neighborhood. I’ve been told
that it’s due to increase in deliveries. These are high dollar homes where we pay very
high taxes. The plan to expand the existing airport by adding a new parallel runway, will

make it even more unbearable and continue to make our property values go down.
Please spend the money on a long term plan and build at a new location.
161
Austin has stolen passengers from San Antonio with better facilities, better food and
entertainment, able to accommodate long haul flights, and to my knowledge, better
incentives to airlines to entice service. I think cheaper landing fees and ticket prices as a
whole.
162
Am worried about increased aircraft noise as expansion efforts move forward. Already
bad enough and my house does not qualify for noise-abatement windows
163
Accessible and reasonable pickup/dropoff ability. Airport Police currently extremely
inflexible for anything other than momentary standing/waiting. I understand the security
concern, but a little flexibility is greatly appreciated.
164
Limit the hours in which airlines can operate. Too many residents are impacted by
airport noise. It is not reasonable to think the current location can provide safe travel for
the region.
165
Would be good to reduce congestion in Terminal A. Gets way too crowded on busy
flight days and it's difficult to move the length of the terminal.
166
more direct flights from Cleveland to San Antonio, TX. Direct flights to Hawaii
167
Please do not make me drive up 281 or I-35 to get to the airport. There is nothing wrong
with the current airport. It's just the right size with enough flights to get where you want
to go without being such a hassle as bigger airports are.
168
Keeping the airport contemporary and up-to-date is very important for the city. Soaring
ceiling with lots of space make the city seem more "with-it".
169
We don’t need a new airport. We need a fully staffed airport. I really don’t appreciate not
being able to use TSA precheck because of staffing issues.
170
One terminal for just South West Airlines.
171
Are you looking for citizens to be on the board? I would like to be considered - Kent
Mantle - 210-287-4355
172
I would really like to eat in a Chick-fil-A in the airport.
173
For those of us in your flight path, you need to provide noise abatement for our homes.
Not just a few streets. I read about Whataburger being a place, I vote for that and think
it's great. Not Chick Fil A. They are not open every day.
174
Concern for noise levels with increased airport use and plans to mitigate that for homes
on the flight path (both take off and landing)
175
NA
176
Consider pickup and drop off traffic to be a top priority, the current situation is extremely
stressful.
177
Chick-fil-A should be included!
178
Along with number of flights, direct flights, etc., appearance is critical. This is the face of
the city to many people.
179
Involve air traffic control in the planning. We know what the actual airport needs and
many of us have worked at other airport across the country
180
Have meter data readily available through 3rd party. Do not mess with Salado Creek (no
"form of creek relocation"). Commit to green infrastructure. SAT is the number one
producer of 5 types of pollution. Start mitigating it.
181
Remove if possible that loud older jets that fly out to the north over neighborhoods
182
Baggage Claim should be in the same terminal as plane's arrival

183
Lengthen the runways and get more I international flights in here! Driving to Austin
because a flight to London is $300 cheaper shouldn’t have to happen in the 7th largest
city
184
I would like to see more direct flights to and from Boston, NY, and DC. I want to keep the
flight paths contained though, so as to keep the noise reasonable, so nothing too crazy
185
Increase noise abatement for areas outside the airport. It has been years since this was
considered and implemented and airplanes have gotten larger, noisier and more daily
flights since this was done last time, years and years ago.
186
More nonstop flights. Solve the Chick Fil A controversy; I hear about it all over the
country.
187
Better and more economical flight connections. Better flights into Central & South
America, and to Asia.
188
Access from the terminals to long term parking must be improved. Currently 4 different
floor changes via distinct stairs/elevators/escalators are required to get from parking to
the departure gates. This situation is not acceptable for local airport users.
189
Moving sidewalks are nice. I would like to see reasonably priced food and drinks offered
and not price gouging since they have a hostage type traveling customer base. Don't get
so greedy with parking fees and rates on things that you have control over. It's bad
enough with the airlines charging for every little thing such as a suitcase. It's gotten to
where it's not even fun to fly anymore. Let's not add to the chaos by spending on
unnecessary things. Let the art be donated or sponsored and rotated. Contests that
open up competition that promote the San Antonio spirit and history. Music from local
school concert, marching, and mariachi bands. Take the opportunity to capitalize on
what San Antonio is famous for and stop trying to be like New York or Los Angeles.
190
Common Sense
191
Leave space, or plan for ground transportation besides automobiles. Design things so
that the default is not automobiles.
192
Develop the plan to focus on improving efficiencies for travelling passengers
(faster/more security check points; ease of finding/getting too gates; comfortable and
more seating at the gates; restaurant choices; better access to parking areas; reduce
parking fees; etc.) and not spend time/resources on non-necessities like public art and
ultra high end looking construction. We want the airport too look nice, represent San
Antonio, and be inviting, but costs can be reduced by being prudent and focusing the
effort on the "need to haves" and not the "nice to haves."
193
Get it done and quit having meetings
194
An indoor GPS map that is interactive will help my teenagers when they start flying. They
don't use the kiosks and are too conservative to ask the info boots. Something that has
Geographic Information in an app or website.
195
European destinations are not necessary for the travelers of San Antonio. Most
colleagues of mine who travel like going out of SA because it's quick, amenities are clean
and easy and it's a small town feel. Quit trying to compete with Austin to see who flies
the furthest and focus on what SA can be known for...cheap flights and great hospitality.

197
SAT is growing exponentially. We must consider security as much a priority as do airports
in cities such as NY! The airport police presence should be increased!

Keep in mind that customer service is key. I've honestly never had a bad experience at
San Antonio international.
199
Give the people Chick-Fil-A
200
Better nonstop flights to better locations. London. Paris. Italy. Boston.
201
Add a CHICK FIL A restaurant!!
202
Focus on expanding the size of the terminals. It feels like a regional airport versus an
international airport. It’s embarrassing since we are the 7th largest city in the United
States.
203
Everyone is now using Austin airport. Cheaper fares, more flights, more non-stops.
Residents bypass SA airport all together. Where I work our guest visitors have to cut
conferences short because there's only one flight out for that day. Now I understand why
AT&T left for Dallas.
204
Need good connection using transit to city areas
205
Picking up passenger area is not easy or police friendly at all!! Officers are VERY rude. It's
confusing, frustrating and not accommodating
206
JetBlue
207
You have got to provide drastic improvements for the disabled who cannot lift their
luggage out f their cars ad into the airport! There is no one to help us get our luggage
off the conveyor belt. The Ticket sales agents and most of the airport staff express
frustration that we need some help. And we can search for an hour, all around but there
is no one or location offered.
208
More direct flights.
209
make it more practical. Make it more like Austin. Going between terminals should be
seamless, not having to go through tsa again. Or just make it one terminal. An AA
Admirals club would be great. Austin has flights to Europe. Why can't we? Make it more
attractive for airlines to want to do business here.
210
More non stop flight going West. San Antonio people should not have to drive to Austin
for better non stop choices.
211
I do not travel by airplane because my children do not like the lack of playground and
child friendly amenities. My youngest is autistic and the excessive noise doesn’t help him.
I would like accommodations that could facilitate traveling with him such family
restrooms. Even just having an area separated from the departing areas could help.
212
Convenient items that are highly needed are very important. Places for family's to
occu6children, charging stations, quick food and places to buy items you forgot. Parking
and ease if rental cars. Those are items people need. Outdoor smoking is important to a
large number of people. Ease of gate change is critical.
213
There needs to be more fast breakfast options. Like a Whataburger and Chick-fil-A
214
Please consider the people/traffic that have to pickup and drop off passengers. That’s
always a nightmare..
215
Shuttle from long term parking
216
Put a Chick-Fil-A in the airport, you made the citizens of this city look bad because you
are bigoted against Christians.
217
Prioritize getting more direct and international flights please!
218
Consider building new terminal from scratch on north side of field without interruption
to current operations.

SAT’s location in San Antonio is valuable because it allows you to reach any part of the
city rapidly. No need for on-site hotels or more parking. With the increase of shared
economies, consider the potential for use of funding for an enjoyable experience to and
from flights. Make me want to share my experience with others and draw them into
flying to-from-thru SAT. Keep up the great work!
224
Chick-fil-a would be great.
225
More airline connections
226
Restroom accommodations and cleanliness are almost always lacking in airports. I have
Crohns and this has a huge impact on my air travel experiences.
227
Doing a great job! Love seeing the TSA dogs on board for security.
228
Our airport lags behind any major metropolitan airports. Not enough flights or terminals.
SAT does not have a lounge.
229
Keep it nice, but low cost. Oh, and a Chic-fil-a would be a great addition.
230
Our airport should have the same big city-small town, welcoming vibe that San Antonio
has. It's important to feature local art depicting what San Antonio means to the arrists,
especially considering San Antonio is the fastest growing city in the U.S. Our airports
should feel warm & welcoming & Texan, just like SA.
231
Considering it is 100 degrees and up 90%of the year, I don’t think anything outdoors
would be worth the trouble.
232
This airport has way too much junk food in it and not enough sit down restaurants. there
also needs to be a way to connect from one terminal to the other behind the gates
233
International flights to Europe.
234
Thank you very much for asking for the community's input!! I travel frequently for work
and little things can go a long way when it comes to the stress of travel. I think people
would enjoy more plants and greenery, easier onsite parking - right now it's faster and
cheaper parking off site and using the shuttle, a place for children to play and burn off
energy before flights - This is especially helpful when a flight is delayed, highlight local
artists - maybe some sort of farmer's type market (This may sound silly but many tourist
may purchase items on their way in and out - I would!), service type animals that help
people relax and feel less anxiety while traveling - nothing brings a bunch of strangers
together more than cute animals, I'm not sure of the demand here but I have always
enjoyed airports that have massage/mani options. I'm not sure if this is possible but it
would be nice to have all the food options in one central area instead of up and down
the terminal - lots of people don't even realize the other choices available and end up
eating the highly visible fast food options. At minimum, having a better restaurant/store
directory right when you get through TSA would be helpful. I think we can all agree we
need a larger Starbucks too, lol. Have you seen the line?! It's wild. And you can't go
wrong with music! I had a friend visit the other day and she was very impressed with the
German band she was greeted with at the airport. Thanks again!!

Keep the convenience and reasonable costs for parking. Expand food services. Very easy
Airport to use. Easy in and easy out.
244
Bad survey design. Of 10 questions (Monkey's free version max), 9 of 10 are user data
questions rather than planning questions. Question 1, "Important to you" and (not asked)
'relate to you' are different. I view Family Restrooms important but not to my personal
situation. Rail transit to the airport and downtown and tech hubs aren't mentioned (and
glaringly absent from Transportation Planning studies), but will be very important due to
projected growth. 24 hr access to food/drink matters to late arriving/overnight travelers.
Shaded exterior spaces will matter more in 20 years. Pre-TSA restaurant access options
matter.
245
Change the Spanish recording. [His] delivery is terrible
246
build parallel runway
247
Cup holders, electronic charging stations, and more trash cans at all the seating areas
make time pass easier waiting for flights, especially during delays. Chic Fil A seems to
always be serving the most people when I go past them at Dallas Love and Houston
Hobby. They are closed one day a week, but the other six, they have good food fast from
friendly people.
248
Plan it with Historical San Antonio theme, paintings of the quarry, Hemisphere, Sunset
Train Station, the Missions, the Aquafer, scenic views, of our Hill Country side, Cowboys,
Native Americans, the early years of Fort Sam Houston, Kelly AFB. Early days of when the
trolly system was in place down time, Texas theater, Majestic theater, Aztec theater
249
More late night food options
250
Lounges that work with priority pass
251
It would be cool to have a designated place outside the airport for watching planes take
off and land, similar to Founders Plaza at DFW.
252
We need new terminals with wider, more modern concourses. Food options (have you
been to terminal 2??) that provide a variety, including healthy options. We also need an
airport that lets you know that you are in San Antonio. We have a very utilitarian facility.
Boring and inadequate.
253
Please improve public transportation at the airport. We need much better bus service
and rail.
254
An Avgeek Store would be pretty cool to see. Ice cream shop. I have an Idea, perhaps an

Geeks and Airline Fans to socialize with Airline Employees and other avgeeks, food, talk

about planes, Bounce houses and other fun games etc, because I have crazy fun Ideas.
Possibly More Airlines Coming to San Antonio such as JetBlue and Spirit Airlines is
Important for Growth, otherwise folks from SA Flying JetBlue or Spirit would have to Go
all the way to Austin. As far as Airport expansions go, I have no idea where everything
would go.
255
Provide a way to see how long TSA wait times are prior to arriving at the airport in order
to plan your arrival time better.
256
Partner with airlines and AUS for international flights. AUS can be for European flights
while SAT can be for MX/Caribbean flights. I fly SAT as often as possible, I last flew out of
AUS in 2015 and will again in 2020 since European flights were cheaper. Our flight out of
AUS were less than $2k for a family of four versus SAT $3200. Everyone at SAT has done
great work and I look forward to one day take a Caribbean flight or a European flight out
of SAT.
257
Parking and easy DropOff for ride share services is extremely important. Better cell phone
lot and easier security screening.
258
Connect the two terminals! It's amazing the terminals are not connected, it's a joke!
259
Sit-down restaurant outside the terminal like most airports so if you are late over you can
visit with friends and family and enjoy a bite to eat without leaving the airport.
260
I think it is extremely important to acquire the land adjacent to the north side of the
airport in order to build the parallel runway. Our current terminals are small and have no
wow factor or San Antonio vibe. I think it would be best to build a new one that is
modern and reflects our city and our culture. And obviously we need at least one direct
flight to Europe. We don’t need to have more than Austin or even as many as them, but
how is it that they have four carriers to Europe and we have zero? It is very frustrating
that we don’t have that yet. Also, direct flights to Boston. That seems easy, so I don’t
understand why we don’t have that either.
261
Lack of indoor seating and with charging stations. Decent restaurants needed, have
enough fastfood. Update your survey, there are people in the SA EJT who do not have
council district.
262
Please get more direct flights.
263
Can the Charging stations actually work, they don’t in most places. Open container
(alcohol bevg.) from restaurant/bars to gate. We’re already restricted, why can’t we take
our drinks with us?
264
Bring chick fil a and don’t be so picky and ask the public before you deny business to
operate. In away you are tell what we and can’t do. I thought his is an free country and
not force your opinion onto other people no matter who they are.
265
add parallel runway
266
More multi model transportation to and from the airport, IE. more bus lines and rail
express. As well as more flights to international destinations such as Europe and Asia
267
Need wider center aisles . Hard to get to baggage escalator with all the traffic in that
area..restaurants. incoming passengers, TSA, etc..
268
Need more restaurant selection in terminal b.
269
Better food options
270
San Antonio airport should reflect the diverse culture of our city. Local music, local art,
local restaurants i.e., Whataburger, Bill Miller, Burgerteca
271
More airlines are needed, terminal for regional carriers, additional terminals

SAT is a no frills airport. Why visit this airport? There is nothing here to intrigue visitors!
Definitely nothing before TSA! Most boring airport for being an “INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT. Walkways to terminals a not wide enough. Seats are uncomfortable.
273
Need longer and parallel runways for larger aircraft for overseas nonstop flights ASAP
274
I dont think having an observation deck is important
275
How about connecting the two terminals!
276
We need to start focusing more on expanding the airport itself. More and longer
runways. Bigger terminals with larger gates. These are things we need to expand with
the growth of the city. After we get these things, then we can focus on amenities for the
terminals.
277
separate smoking areas from share ride area. connect A and B. put Charley's Grilled Subs
in Terminal A.
278
Please have someone in the parking driving around helping people!
279
Make SAT modern and competitive to other airports (AUS/DAL/IAH/DFW) and continue
to encourage airlines to choose SAT for more direct flights.
280
Please provide vegan food options!
281
I'm wondering how the noise of the increased take-offs and landings will affect those
under the flightpaths. As aircraft and airlines start using satellite-directed navigation, it's
possible the same route will be used continuously and not deviate by more than 50 feet
(14± meters).
282
I am very concerned about the noise that will increase significantly if the runways are
changed as they are discussing. We live in the Oak Park area and the noise from airplane
departures is already distracting and loud. Any changes that will increase the noise
pollution over our neighborhood will be very disappointing and frustrating.
283
Please keep our neighborhoods quiet. I worry about decreasing property values if you
change the runways.
284
Outdoor seating is only good if it’s non smoking. Planes need to take off toward
McAllister park as much as possible and away from neighborhoods. The lower level
pickup area is a log jam mess.
285
Reference # 3. The increased airport noise makes it miserable to be outside.
286
We need more direct non stop flights. We have to pay more to fly due to lack of direct
flights. Noise reduction is key. We get so much airplane noise at our home. And
although we are in the window replacement zone , it is never our turn. So please do not
increase our noise.
287
Chic fil A. Perpendicular runway!!!!
288
Parking needs to be improved;
289
Please do not close runway 4/22. This would negatively impact quality of life for
residents in the Northwood, Oak Park and Alamo Heights neighborhoods.
290
Continue to work to LESSEN NOISE from takeoffs / landings in nearby neighborhoods. It
is almost unbearable at times...even when indoors. While it's true that many homes
popped up after the airport was built, the airport was not the busy, constant take off/
land /repeat place it is now! Its growth has meant a concomitant diminution of our
quality of life!
291
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/ Oakpark/Alamo Heights
neighborhoods

Do not close 4/22 runway because of increased traffic/noise pollution over our
neighborhoods.
293
Keep runway 22 open to minimize air traffic over Alamo heights/Northwood/Olmos park
294
Pls change the flight patterns to fly LESS over the Northwood neighborhood.
295
Reduce plane noise.
296
It is embarrassing to be the great city we are and see the millions of dollars wasted on
renovations, the airport needed to be relocated 20 years ago. No future planning, visitors
are in shock...
297
More direct flights!
298
Many more charging stations. Chick-f-let. Better arrival pickup. More windows and airy
feeling. Less crowded gates. Better restaurant selection. Less noise over neighborhoods.
Better landscaping.
299
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/ Oakpark/Alamo Heights
neighborhoods. This is critical to us. We were supposed to get the window replacement
program and then they stopped it. We were sent a letter that we qualified. We cannot
handle anymore noise. The planes wake me up out of a dead sleep.
300
Keep the air traffic away from Northwood/Oak Park. Keep a runway configuration that
distributes some of the air traffic in a Northwest to Southeast and some to a Northeast to
Southwest pattern. There is one option out of your 14 options that will accomplish this.
301
Once again, keep politics out of restaurants available for customers (Chic Fila being
denied a spot at the airport is a perfect example)
302
As the airport is expanded and takes on increased flights- I feel that first and foremost it’s
important to properly and equally disperse air traffic over neighborhoods and all areas of
San Antonio surrounding the airport to alleviate flight paths over one central area. Also, I
don’t know how big the expansion will be, but I would think ease & accessibility of short
and long term parking and the possibility of trams are important. Plenty of seating,
charging areas and public restrooms designed for both business and family travelers
who often have luggage, layovers/delays and or kids. A play area for kids would be
amazing- however it may need to have workers manning the area to help with the
possibility of accidents and misuse. Love the idea of outside areas/restaurants- don’t
know the importance in relation to more crucial things.
303
MORE DIRECT FLIGHTS PLEASE!!!!! Would be a game changer to not have to fly thru Dallas
for everywhere I need to go as well for attracting more business to San Antonio.
304
Be conscientious of nearby homes when considering runways!!! My home can be
insulated but it’s hard to enjoy the outdoors with planes taking off and landing
frequently. Focus on the things that will grow our city’s revenue and get people out of
the airport vs spending money to entertain them for a short time period.
305
It would be nice to have a nice Restaurant. Something other than fast food.
306
Please keep runway 4/22 open
307
Please do not close the second runway and go to just one runway that will
significantly affect enjoyment and home values for 78209.
308
Please don’t close a runway. Less air traffic over Alamo heights !!!
309
Please do not increase the number of planes flying over residential areas located close to
the airport.
310
Please do not close runway 4/22

I live under the Northwood flight zone and am not for the new zoning where the flights
would increase. We already get a lot of planes overhead, surely there is another solution.
312
We need high ceilings and lots of light. Keep it clean and modern. Less decor equals
more sophistication.
313
More direct flights needed. Reduction in airport noise Nacogdoches/410 area.
314
We really miss Las Palapas!!!
315
Please do not increase air traffic over our home with closing runway 4/22.
316
Don't close (Runway 4/22)
317
Living so close to the airport and directly in the “flight path” is already very noisy with the
size of the current facilities/airport. Will the expansion increase noise level for our
neighborhood as more airlines/flights are acomodares? Is there a window replacement
assistance/ relief program for homes with single pane glass windows? As for parking,
even with the expansion/addition of the parking garage a few yrs ago both short and
long term parking is not convenient and takes more time than it should to park and get
to the terminal. Huge room for improvement in this particular area!
318
We do not want to increase air traffic by 60%. It is already quite loud as it is and adding to
that would invite conversations to move from our home due to excessive noise.
319
Please put a chick fil a n the airport.
320
Be fair to all vendors. We are watching with our votes
321
I have lived in San Antonio for over 70 years. I have always lived in the Alamo Heights
area. I was a realtor for over 20 years here. Please do not increase the airplane traffic over
the Northwood and Oak Park area. I live in that area, and I do not want to hear more
airplanes.
322
Minimal amenities are needed; German airports are so clean, efficient, and would make a
great model. I'd much rather have a clean, attractive airport than to have live music, tons
of eateries, etc. People need easy access to food, drinks, restrooms, charging stations,
natural light. Less fuss, more quality, more cleanliness. I'm in favor of strict, efficient
security and customs processes.
323
I am extremely worried about the possible increase if planes over my home each
morning if one runway is shut done each morning. The noise volume is horrible already
and will increase so much more.
324
Don’t close runway
325
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/ Oakpark/Alamo Heights
neighborhoods. I am an Alamo Heights Resident.
326
User friendly areas. Noise reduction as much as you possibly can so that area
neighborhoods will not be affected
327
Please keep all runways open to protect the Northwoods area from additional airport
noise. It’s bad enough already - please don’t make it worse.
328
I already live in the landing flight path. I hope you will be mindful of the traffic we already
see daily and not increase the amount much more. As you plan for future airport use, if
possible create an additional landing runway over a different area.
329
Do not close the 422 runway
330
Please DO NOT increase the takeoff traffic of planes over the Northwood/ Alamo Heights
area of San Antonio as the noise is very disruptive to our daily living!!!!!!
331
We would like to ensure that there is no runway closure that would I crease traffic over
the 78209 area.

Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/Oakpark neighborhoods
333
Please protect the neighborhoods surrounding Alamo Heights ISD
334
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/ Oakpark/Alamo Heights
neighborhoods
335
Consider the Alamo Heights area and what is important to those people in terms of noise
pollution.
336
Leave as is
337
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/ Oakpark/Alamo Heights
neighborhoods--I live in Alamo Heights so am not in a City of SA district
338
Noise abatement is extremely important.
339
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/ Oakpark/Alamo Heights
neighborhoods. The increase in air traffic would be detrimental to the property values
and therefore school districts, AHISD and NEISD, funded by these neighborhoods.
340
Please keep the 4/22 runway open and protect the Northwood/Oak Park and Alamo
Heights neighborhood. The overhead air traffic is already high. If you eliminate the 4/22,
you will increase the air traffic to an obscene amount and hurt our property values and
general lifestyles.
341
I oppose the closure of any runway at the San Antonio airport. This would increase air
traffic over an already noisy area, of which I'm a resident (Oak Park/Northwood).
Diverting additional air traffic to the southeast would negatively impact our
neighborhood's property values and quality of life. The noise levels are already extreme;
this would cause a mass exodus and affect resale values. I'm a local Realtor and have first-
hand experience in trying to sell Northwood properties while planes are flying over every
few minutes. It often kills the deal. Closure of a runway should not be an option on the
table.
342
Reintroduce noise abatement windows and doors in the Northwood area.
343
Please take steps to reduce the take offs and landings in the Harry Wurzbach/Fort Sam
direction. I feel like/know that runway 422 can be used except under extreme winds. 422
has fewer residences in its path than 317.
344
Expand the residential window program. I'm one block out of it and my windows shake
often.
345
I live near the airport and I have and air antenna for my tv but unfortunately when an
airplane is passing by the signal is interrupted. I’d like to let you know that you could
consider this. Thank you!
346
I live in Northpark neighborhood near AH jr school and noise is NOT a problem.
347
The NOISE from the Airport is really difficult from the noise and getting worse! It's at a 7
now and if expanded it would be a 10.
348
Worried about noise in my neighborhood
349
Concerned about airplane noise level and hours
350
The noise has become so loud over our home that it often wakes up our children. We live
at Rockhill and Kenilworth. Something needs to be done to decrease the noise!!! What
happened to the window program?!!!
351
Concern about noise increase w lengthened and/or addl runways
352
Noise abatement is a quality of life issue. Focus on that.
353
Airport NOISE for NEIGHBORS IN the COMPLETE NORTHWOOD neighborhood.
354
Provide big discount on multi pane windows for all who want in Northwood.

More non-stop flights into and out of San Antonio. The addition of Smoke Shack and
Boss Bagel are a step in the right direction. Adding these restaurants to a google map of
the airport would be fantastic.
356
Keep up the great work!
