Program Description
The Carpentry program prepares students
to build and repair structures in compliance
with existing codes. Students learn skills
needed for residential and commercial
construction including blueprint reading,
material estimating, cabinet building, and
framing. Students will work with a variety of
hand tools, power tools, and construction
equipment, and have learning experiences
both on and off-campus.
Program Outcomes
• Frame floors, walls, roofs using wood
and steel.
• Install exterior finish components.
• Install interior finish components.
• Coordinate construction activities.
• Perform construction activities safely.
Pre-program Requirements
To begin your carpentry career, you need to
be at a specific skill level in English/reading
and mathematics.

Carpentry Exterior Lab II

*Requires a prerequisite or a concurrent course
English/Reading:
• Eligible for ENGL 1106 - College Composition I, or
• Completion of ENGL/READ 0950/0955 (or equivalent or higher). ENGL/READ 0950/0955 may
be taken concurrently with Semester I coursework

Mathematics:
• A score of 250 or higher on the Arithmetic portion of the Accuplacer.
