Introduction
Glasgow is the setting for our rst away pool game in the 2017/2018
European Rugby Champions Cup campaign. Home to just under
600,000 people it is the largest city in Scotland, and third largest in the
UK. Glasgow is also home to a great deal of noteworthy architecture
including the 500 year old University and a number of buildings
designed by the renowned architect and designer Charles Rennie
Macintosh – of note is the Glasgow School of Art. A number of the
museums and galleries of note in Glasgow oer free admission.
Glasgow last took on Leinster in the old format European Cup back in
the 2011/12 season, with Leinster victorious on both occasions. Most
recently Leinster took on Glasgow in the RDS in the penultimate round
of the 2016/17 Guinness PRO12 in April and took the spoils 31-30. It was nail biting to the end, thanks in no
small part to the dangerously quick counter-attack and stubborn play so often displayed by Glasgow. The
oodlight asco added even more so to the tension. We hope that the visit this weekend will once again live
up to the standard both sides tend to deliver, and that we’ll be kept entertained and enthralled until the nal
whistle.
It is interesting to note that Glasgow Warriors hold the tournament record for the highest number of
consecutive seasons in which a team has made the playos, with ve seasons between 2011/12 and 2015/16.
Going further back and taking the Celtic League into account, this record is also shared with Leinster, who
made the playos the last two years of the Celtic League, and the rst three of the PRO12.

Message from the Coach
A very warm welcome to another season on the road in Europe
although for this afternoons game it is to a ground and a city that
we are all very familiar with.
In the ordinary course of events it would be one of four games
against Glasgow Warriors this season but of course with the new
Conference system in the Guinness PRO14 we won’t get the
pleasure of hosting Glasgow a second time in the RDS.
But in Europe this is the rst of two xtures against the PRO12
winners from three seasons ago.
Historically, Scotstoun is a ground that we have struggled in but
for the neutrals some of the games have been superb contests. In my rst game as a forwards coach with Matt
O’Connor it went down to the wire and a Stuart Hogg kick at the death gave Glasgow a two-point win. In 2016
it was again a close encounter with only six points between us at the end. While last season we shared eight
tries between us with Tommy Seymour grabbing four as the home side again nished strong and took home
the maximum ve points.
So, there is no doubt that similar to Montpellier and Exeter, Glasgow will pose a huge test and it is a game
where we need to start positively. It will be a huge challenge against a team that has started very strongly in
the PRO14 and is, at the time of writing, leading the way in Conference A.
Your support is hugely appreciated as always. The lengths that members of the OLSC and other Leinster
supporters go to in support of this team was there for all to see in Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein. It was
truly uplifting to see the ags and the colour so far from home. We will need it again on Saturday in Glasgow.
Bank of Ireland is a huge supporter of Leinster and I was delighted to see them extend their title sponsorship
of Leinster Rugby until 2023. It is a relationship that started in 2007 and continues to grow. Special mention
also must be made of their support of the OLSC, of these away trips and of the away guide itself.
We are still in the early stages of the season but feel that while plenty of progress was made last season,
ultimately it wasn’t good enough. We have to raise the standard for the season ahead and hopefully that will
be enough to see us take that extra step or two later in the year.
But none of that can happen if we don’t manage the early part of the domestic and the European season and
in that regard this weekend is massive for the club.
Thanks again for all your eorts and your support and I’m looking forward to another season in your company
on the road.
Safe travels and enjoy the game.

Message from the Committee
Our rst away pool game in Europe this season
awaits this weekend with a visit to Glasgow, which
is located on the banks of the River Clyde in West
Central Scotland.
Glasgow is home to a variety of theatres, art
galleries, bars, shops, restaurants and music
venues and had has held numerous accolades
down through the years including the UK City of
Architecture (’99), European Capital of Culture
(’90), National City of Sport (’95-’99) and European
Capital of Sport ’03. With the early kick-o on
Saturday, any fans who decide to stay until Sunday will have ample opportunity to explore many delights of
Glasgow as outlined earlier in the guide.
Given the last encounter between the sides back in April and the narrow loss suered by Glasgow, we can
expect the few hundred Leinster fans who make the journey to Scotstoun Stadium to encounter a noisy
reception as is the norm from the previous games between the sides. Full voice is needed from the time
the boys in blue run on to the pitch until the nal whistle. Be sure to wear your Leinster colours, especially
important if you plan on wearing a jacket for the kick o. Last thing you want is the weather to turn at a
moment’s notice and catch you unawares.
Leinster’s last visit to Glasgow at Scotstoun was in Sept 2016 were the hosts ran out the victors 33-25 in front
of a crowd of 7,251 so lets hope we can build on our most recent xture against the Warriors and come away
with full points. I’m sure that our South African adventures in Rounds three and four left the lads feeling
a little nostalgic and craving the support so lets get back on track with our travelling fans the team have
become so accustomed to and roar on the boys in blue!
Waxy OConnors in central Glasgow is our Supporters HQ this weekend, it’s an ideal place to meet up with
others in the Blue Army regardless of if you are in a group of traveling alone. We hope to see you there at
some point on Saturday or Sunday.
Enjoy the weekend.
C’MON LEINSTER!
